EEOS 381 - Applications of Geographic Information Systems

- Lab 6 -

Objective:

Become familiar with the ESRI Personal Geodatabase data format by completing Exercises 1, 2, 3, 4, 6 and 8 in the Building Geodatabases Tutorial.

 

Steps:

1. Create a folder on your H: drive named lab6_381

2. Copy into H:\lab6_381 the WinZip file S:\ge381_s08\labs\lab6\lab6.zip

3. Unzip the contents of the WinZip file into H:\lab6_381.

4. Go through the entire “Building_Geodatabases_Tutorial.pdf” PDF document, which is located in S:\ge381_f07\ESRI_PDFs.

Notes:
 - It is important to keep the domain row highlighted when adding information in the dialogs below (as on page 11)
 - It is important to keep the subtype code row highlighted when adding information in the dialogs below (as on pages 12-14)

The tutorial refers to data located in C:\arcgis\ArcTutor\BuildingaGeodatabase, but you will instead refer to H:\lab6_381\BuildingaGeodatabase (to access the data, make folder connection, etc.). All your edits will be saved in the Montgomery.gdb file geodatabase in this folder on H:.

5. When done, create a WinZip file containing the Montgomery.gdb file as <your_username>_lab6.zip.

6. Copy the zip file into T:\EEOS_381\381_labs_submit\lab6.
